MYB at the Oscars
Not only is Ayrshire-based MYB Textiles adorning the big screen, as seen in the Oscar-winning Lincoln, their fabulous lace panels are also starring in Steven Poliakoff’s uber-stylish Dancing on the Edge on BBC2.
For Lincoln, designer Margo Graham worked with U.S. based J.R. Burrows & Co. and John Burrows explains their collaboration:
“For several decades I have been importing Nottingham lace and Madras muslin panels from Morton, Young and Borland, and Margo Graham helped style part of my collection prior to joining MYB Textiles.
'Helena' is a private panel that Margo and I collaborated on using a historic design from the archive of another of my British design colleagues. We first made it for period rooms at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and I was fortunate that Jim Erickson selected it for such prominent use on the sets of Lincoln. My entree to assisting with products for that film set came from work for Mrs Clinton and Mrs Bush on the restoration of the Lincoln Bedroom at the White House - I documented and recreated the period carpet from that room (originally Lincoln's office).
J.R. Burrows & Co. sells Scottish lace and Mardras muslin panels across North America, both retail and trade sales. John Burrows also produces his own line of period wallpapers and works extensively with museums on period carpet reproductions.
